Debra Martin is a lifelong resident of Pomona, a wife, mother of four, grandmother, and professional photographer for 35 years. As a dedicated public servant and passionate advocate, she has spent decades shaping Pomona’s future through leadership, community engagement, and cultural enrichment.

As Cultural Arts Commissioner:
- Spearheaded Pomona's first Public Art Policy Handbook
- Developed **California's first Public Art Inventory website (2007)
- Helped establish Pomona's first Chalk Art Festival (2007)
- Co-founded Pomona's First Annual Mural/Art Competition for PUSD students
- Co-organized multicultural concert series at Ganesha Park, featuring Poncho Sanchez, LA Opera, Tierra, and more
Community & Safety Initiatives
- Led beautification projects tree planting, and public art installations
- Developed community-driven projects, including:
- Native American Dedication Planter - 14 carved wood sculptures at Ganesha Park
- 240-ft Community River Rock Wall - Built with 100 volunteers in 3 hours
- Community Garden at Harrison School - Built with 75 volunteers
- Co-led Pomona's first Homeless Summit, leading to the city's homeless shelter
- Advocated for pedestrian safety, creating a school zone pilot program
Debra Martin’s lifelong commitment to Pomona continues through her leadership, advocacy, and dedication to cultural, economic, and civic development. With her re-election to the City Council, she remains focused on building a stronger, more compassionate, and inclusive Pomona for all.
