Project Background 

As part of the Pomona Complete Streets project, the City is installing the Orange Grove and Park Avenue Quick-Build project. This project will impact Orange Grove Avenue between Garey Avenue and White Avenue. This project aims to improve traffic safety along Orange Grove Avenue, especially near Phil and Nell Soto Park and Lincoln Elementary School.

 Proposed Changes

A Quick Build is a pilot infrastructure project that allows cities to test safety improvements for people walking, biking, and rolling while collecting community feedback. Quick Builds use semi-permanent materials like traffic marking paint, flexible posts, and rubber curb to simulate new roadway configurations and safety features.

Changes include a travel lane reconfiguration from four to two lanes, buffered bike lanes, restriped crosswalks, and a protected bike and pedestrian intersection at Orange Grove and Park Avenue. This is how the intersection will look when constructed:

Construction and Evaluation

Construction begins on September 8th, 2026. Community feedback and traffic data will be collected over a six-month observation period to determine whether the installation should remain or be modified to better improve safety.
