If you live, work or hold Pomona dear, we want to thank you for your continued support of and collaboration with the Art in Public Places Program. As we craft our Action Plan for the new year, we would greatly appreciate your thoughts and feedback as we finish our draft to ensure that we are working together to shape the future of public arts programming in Pomona. We'd like to invite you to at least two community meetings. We are hosting four meetings, two in November and two in December. However, for optimal participation, please consider joining only one meeting in November and one meeting in December.

It is strongly encouraged that interested artists visit the project site prior to applying.

Eligibility

• Preference will be given to Artists residing or working in the Greater Los Angeles Area: Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County.
• Artists who intend to submit a free-standing mural proposal if chosen, must have worked on at least one large scale project (more than 3,000 square footage).
• Artist(s) must have executed a project valued at $150,000.00.
• Preference for sculptures will be given to artists that have previously worked with scrap or reclaimed metals.

Artists who lack the experience with artworks of this scale or cost are encouraged to form artist teams.

Artists will not be eligible to apply if they have been previously commissioned for a public artwork project by the City’s Cultural Arts Commission in the last three years, whose budget was equal to, or exceeds, $100,000. Artists who currently have contracts with the City will need to complete all projects before the deadline of Part A: Submission of Qualifications takes place to be considered.

Tentative Timeline

• Call for Art Released: December 2, 2025
• Call for Art Information Meeting: December 18, 2025, 12 - 1:30 PM
• Deadline to Apply: January 7, 2026 by 5 PM
• Artist Selection - Part A: January - February 2026
• Artist Selection - Part B: March 2026
• Project Execution: April 2026
• Project Completion: August 31, 2026
